I recently invited any Liquid - We Make It Easier! employee to schedule breakfast with me so that they can share their thoughts on ways to make our company better. There was only one condition, as expressed in this exact quote from my letter to employees:
“If you take this opportunity, you are expected to help drive the change that you propose.”
In other words, my door is genuinely open.. but I don’t want to hear, “YOU should do this differently.”
I want to hear, “WE should do this differently, and I am ready to help drive this change.”
Is this a fair condition?
Is it right to expect employees to share responsibility for the change they wish to see?
I think so.
BTW, my first of what I hope will be many breakfasts was yesterday morning with Anders Bodin It was great.
